I have the hardbound copy of this book by Betty Edwards and found it to be rather useful. Sure, you could read it and not do the exercises but that’s not going to help you.
To really get the full effect from the teachings of this book it is recommended that you do the exercises. No matter how silly they might seem. Especially if you’re right handed. I’m right handed and found the exercises in this book to help my drawing techniques.
And yes, some of the exercises make you scratch your head and go “But why?” Though when you do it you realize that it helps silence that inner critic that always seems to show up when you’re trying to draw.
I love this book and figure that you might love it too.
Why not give it a shot?
